Abstract:
The assumption of normality is essential for employing many statistical procedures. Hence, many goodness-of-fit tests are taylor-made for testing whether a sample comes from a normal family. An important class of such tests are tests based on characterizations, i.e. properties that hold only for this family. Here we give a review of normality tests based on different types of characterizations and discuss some of their properties.
