Packet dispersion presents a highly effective approach when dealing with packet burst losses which are the result of tail drop discipline in routers. However, previously proposed packet dispersion schemes failed to address the drawbacks of packet dispersion such as latency, jitter and packet reordering. In this paper, an alternative packet dispersion mechanism is proposed that activates variable number of paths eligible for packet dispersion, hence alleviating destination host of potential packet reordering and increased jitter.en_US
