Digitalization in the Bar County Museum – Pilot Project

Abstract

This paper describes a pilot project of digitalization in Bar County Museum. The Museum’s digital resources are stored, managed and catalogued by web-based open source software for digital asset management and hosted on the University of Belgrade - Faculty of Mathematics’ web server. The characteristics and trade-offs of different types of open source software related to digital asset management are analyzed, and the FocusOPEN Digital Asset Manager is proposed as the best choice in this case. In addition, the experiences in project planning and implementation are described.
